Student Governance and Leadership Development under Student Services Division. The SGLD department is tasked with the management and coordination of student governance and leadership development. It is further tasked with the facilitation of co-curricular activities across 5 campuses of the University of KwaZulu- Natal.

Student Governance and Leadership Development Officers respond by:

• ·         Mentoring and Advising Student Leadership
• ·         Implementation of Educational and Training Programmes
• ·         Management of Student Leadership Development 
• ·         Networking and collaborations

Together with Student Governance and Leadership Development Administrators they serve:

• ·         Student Representative Council Executive (formerly Central SRC)
• ·         5 Local Campus Representative Councils
• ·         More than 200 Student Clubs and Societies
• ·         Entire student body

This includes amongst others: supporting the SRC Executive operations, facilitating extra-curricular activities and student life (Clubs, Societies, projects), university-wide leadership and management of the induction and training of student leaders, research and development of student governance and leadership policies, training programmes and services.
